It can be recalled, recently an audience members of Ebonyi State Gender Based Violence Taskforce (GBV) were in an advocacy visit to the office of the newly appointed Chief Medical Director , Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki on a Friday 17th August , 2023.

The task force were led by it's State coordinator Bar Mrs Faithvin Nwanchor who joyfully expressed the purpose of their coming while being welcome by the Chief Medical Director. In her expression , she exposed that the visit is to seek for a collaboration with AE-FUTHA Management in standing up for a right as stated in their objectives

The CMD Prof Robinson Onoh in a bid to leave no stone on top as an achiever pledge for the collaboration of the hospital with the GBV taskforce in responding to their issues while addressing the group in his office . He expressed his keen interest which he undertook to set a desk officer and a team specialist in health care profession in rendering services to gender based violence cases and to ensure that all survivors are comprehensively managed medically, emotionally and psychologically

Commending the taskforce for their efforts so far regarding the fight against Gender Based Violence, he said , GBV is an area that are basically poorly reported, especially in the area of restoring sanity and image of women who are sexually assaults and others that are affected in one way or the other in the society

Continuing, the CMD said " it will be my happiness to be part of the advocacy, recalling during my course work as a scholar ,that is one of the area I ventured into , even here in our hospital we're always taking care of the violence aspect of our patients and we're ready to work with you to give a better life to people attacked physically and emotionally.

Faithvin in her requst appealed for a unit that will be more of trained health care professionals that are proactive in functioning so to make the vision a reality and for hospital to achieve their primary goals .

Today, it's vision come through , the statement made earlier by an erudite professor, an achiever and a proactive Chief Medical Director of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki Prof Onoh Robinson has come to fullfillment . As a well deserved apartment in the hospital complex were designated through him and his team management for establishment of Gender Based Violence center in the hospital

Nduru(dove) a one stop shop center as named by her Excellence wife of Ebonyi State Governor. Chief Mrs Maudline Uzoamaka Ogbonnaya Nwifuru was on 29th Nov 2023 commissioned for service to humanity The epoch event gathered over three hundred personalities from all conners around the globe .

Really it was a dream come through , as Prof Onoh is in his just concluded 100 days in office played a vital role in the establishment of Nduru Gender based violence center at the hospital premises and many more as part of his vision statement to make the hospital one of the best around the globe especially in the area of health care services

To mark the event , an oral interview were granted to the center manager Mrs Cecilia who profoundly said that the center is fully loaded and ready to discharge the set goals and objectives. She also lauded AE-FUTHA Management for their supportive efforts so far in fulfillment of promises made during a courtesy visit to his office . Other members were in unanimously promised to work with AE-FUTHA in creating More awareness to the publics which will go along way to showcase the hospital to a greater r height .
